Third Birthday CandleJune 6, 2010. I knew I had to make a change in my life, and that change meant adopting a healthier lifestyle. I felt miserable, broken, and trapped by my weight. So, I set out on a journey to lose weight. I’ve always heard and read about how you have to make lifestyle changes to lose and keep weight off, but what does “lifestyle changes” even mean? After all, I thought I made them in previous attempts with weight loss, but obviously I hadn’t because I would immediately gain weight once I stopped following the diet du jour.

Well, it’s been three years since I’ve set out on my journey toward a healthier lifestyle. I’ve fluctuated between having lost 150 to 170 pounds over these three years, and am still working toward my weight loss goal. Sure, I could be discouraged about not having met my ultimate goal in three…
